Can I get a divorce during coronavirus?

As we all adjust to lockdown a lot of people are wondering what is and what is not possble out there.

The courts are determined to keep going, and although there seem to be some back logs in the system, some parts of it are working well. Fortunately in late 2019 and the early months of 2020 they had started a pilot scheme for solicitors to lodge divorce petitions and certain other documents on line using a dedicated portal. The system seems to work quite well and is generally much quicker than the old paper based process.

So, yes, it is perfectly possible to get divorced, or to dissolve your civil partnership whilst the country is in lockdown for coronavirus/ covid-19. Please drop me an email or call the office and we can talk it through.
